Writer’s Note

Written November 2021-February 2022. This originally started as a song called “Okay, But When Are We Going Home?” with a good chunk of the same music (especially that arpeggiator) and similar themes in the lyrics. I was inspired by Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”— where melancholic lyrics come together with an electropop sound. 

The album cover, which was shot by Quinton Turner, was heavily inspired by this song in particular. 

I didn’t want to sing on this album. But I was looking for a very particular sound for this song’s vocalist that I happened to fit: “nerdy and desperate, but top 40.” So yes, those little nuances are intentional.
